Arrest Made in Shots Fired Incident Outside Tommy Nevin's Pub

Fingerprints on a gun found in a Dempster Street parking lot matched those of a Chicago man, police say.

EVANSTON, IL - A Chicago man faces a charge of unlawful use of a weapon after police identified him as the man accused of firing a gunshot outside Tommy Nevin’s Pub in Evanston two weekends ago.

Police in Evanston arrested Isaac J. Roach, 31 this week in connection with the incident.

Roach was first questioned shortly after the shots fired call came in at 12:54 a.m. on May 7. Reports at the time indicated a large fight broke out outside the pub in the 1400 block of Sherman Ave. and one individual discharged a handgun before leaving the scene in a vehicle.

Officers stopped a vehicle driven by Roach in the area of Maple Avenue and Greenwood Street, but were unable to locate any weapons or other indications Roach may have been the shooter.

That afternoon, police say a citizen located a Lorcin 9mm handgun in a parking lot in the 900 block of Dempster St. Ammunition from the gun later matched a spent shell casing found outside Tommy Nevin’s during the initial investigation. Authorities later confirmed fingerprints on the gun matched Roach.

Roach was arrested Thursday night at 11:17 p.m. in the 700 block of Howard Street. He was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by felon and two counts of having no FOID card.
