Beaches in Evanston Will Be Even Smaller This Summer
Parks director says the size of one beach has decreased even more than the others.

EVANSTON, IL - The size of all five beaches in Evanston city limits are decreasing.
Lawrence Hemingway, the city’s director of parks, recreation and community services, confirmed to the City Council that the problem is more widespread than just the recently closed Evanston Dog Beach, the Evanston Review reports.

"All of our beaches are shrinking,” said Hemingway. “So we're currently facing a reduced beachfront throughout the entire lakefront.”
Greenwood Street Beach, he said, “is significantly reduced.”

Ninth Ward City Alderman Brian Miller noted that the higher water levels have also affected the small boat launch in the city.
