Book Reading: Jeanne Bishop on Forgiving Her Sister's Murderer
Co-hosted by author Jeanne Bishop and the James B. Moran Center for Youth Advocacy, join in a discussion about juvenile justice.
Join us for an evening co-hosted with the James B. Moran Center for Youth Advocacy, as author and defense attorney Jeanne Bishop presents her new book,Change of Heart: Justice, Mercy and Making Peace with My Sister’s Killer. The book traces Jeanne’s journey from the brutal murder of her family members by a Winnetka teenager, who received three life sentences for the crime, to forgiving him and visiting him in prison. Jeanne advocates for an end to juvenile life sentences and supports the mission of the Moran Center to provide legal services and counseling to young people in the criminal justice system.
Jeanne will read from her book, sign copies, and join in a discussion with the audience and Moran Center attorney Patrick Keenan-Devlin about forgiveness, redemption, and the moral issues raised by overly harsh sentences for children. We will be soliciting (voluntary) donations for the work of the Moran Center to assist low-income Evanston youth and their families. Please come for what promises to be a remarkable evening!
