Brazen Daytime Armed Robbery In Evanston

Suspected teenagers rob 16-year-old boy at gunpoint Friday afternoon at bus stop on Emerson.

EVANSTON, IL — A 16-year-old Evanston boy was robbed at gunpoint by two suspected teens while at a bus stop Friday afternoon, police said.

The boy was at Emerson Street and Grey Avenue when he was approached by two people around 2 p.m. One of the two put him in a headlock, as the other pulled out a black handgun and demanded the boy give over all his belongings, according to police. The victim gave over his wallet, which contained $30 and an ID.

The robbers fled on foot, heading eastbound on Emerson, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan. They were last spotted southbound in an alley east of Grey.

Each of the robbers is thought to be 14 to 17 years old, police said. The boy who brandished the gun was described as being five foot, 10 inches tall and black, wearing a black hoodie and dark jeans. The boy who put the victim in a headlock was described as being six feet tall and black and 220 pounds with a large build.
