Brian Scott Named Fire Chief of Evanston Fire Department
Deputy chief promoted to replace Greg Klaiber in the chief role at the Evanston Fire Department.

EVANSTON, IL - The city of Evanston opted to promote an in-house candidate to serve as the next fire chief of the Evanston Fire Department. Deputy Chief Brian Scott was appointed to the position this week by City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz, who selected Scott after an extensive national search that included several candidates.
“Brian Scott competed against a national pool of candidates for the position of fire chief. He proved that with his long experience as a fire professional as well as his keen understanding of the Evanston Fire Department that he is the best person for this job,” Bobkiewicz said. “I look forward to welcoming him to the city’s executive management team and working with him as fire chief.”
Scott will replace former Fire Chief Greg Klaiber, who retired earlier this year for a position at Northwestern University. He is a 17-year veteran of the Evanston Fire Department, serving in several roles including firefighter/paramedic, division chief of operations and training and deputy chief of operations and training.
