Brothers K Among Best Coffee Shops For 'Getting it All Done'

Rundown of most productive coffee shops in Chicagoland includes an Evanston favorite.

EVANSTON, IL - The Brothers K Coffeehouse, which proudly stands near the busy intersection of Chicago Ave. and Main St. in south Evanston, has been named one of the 14 best coffee shops in Chicago for “getting it all done.”

Even though it’s not actually in Chicago.

The rundown of coffee shops that have an “atmosphere conducive to ultimate productivity” was compiled by the Chicagoist in October and shared again this week. The Brothers K was the only place mentioned not within the city limits of Chicago.

“Telecommuting, freelancing or simply having creative projects on the side are now commonplace—but working at home among distractions like Netflix, the refrigerator and furry friends who just don’t understand the word “deadline” can be challenging,” wrote author Lauren Whalen.

Owned by Brian and John Kim since 2005, Chicagoist described the Brothers K as “a cozy neighborhood gathering place, convenient for Chicagoans looking for a mini-getaway but somewhat removed from the undergraduate crowd.

“Enjoy a cup of fair-trade coffee and a delectable pastry while you work, and try not to eavesdrop on the community activists planning out tree planting at the next table (quietly and respectfully, of course).”

Brothers K is the easternmost business on Main St., east of Chicago Ave. near Hinman. Its neighbors include Annie’s Irish Knits, Marie Parie Boutique, The Alcove and the Lucky Platter.
