Cabbie Killer Gets 35 Years
Darien Marquez-Connerly pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the 2011 death of cab driver Leodis Blackburn in Evanston.

EVANSTON, IL - A man was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Monday for the 2011 murder of a cab driver in Evanston.
Darien Marquez-Connerly pleaded guilty to a charge of first degree murder in Skokie court on Monday, according to the Evanston Police Department.
Marquez-Connerly was arrested in May of 2011 in connection with the death of cab driver Leodis Blackburn a month before.

According to police, Marquez-Connerly flagged down Blackburn near Howard Street and Ridge Avenue on the south end of town and shot him once in the head during an attempted armed robbery.
