On Friday, May 30th at 2:00 PM, Lula B. Sherman United Methodist Church is hosting Lula B.’s Rhythm Cafe, a celebratory cultural event open to the entire Evanston community.
The evening features The Ensemble: vocalists Veronica Davenport, Venita Fields, and Debbie Chisolm-Wynter performing a collection of Jazz and R&B favorites from the songbooks of Aretha Franklin, Sade, and Roberta Flack. They will be accompanied by band members Jeffrey Hardy, Darryl Petty, Chris Greene, Vuyani Wakaba, and Charlie Horne, along with guest singers Kusawn Carr Foster and Gary Wood.
The performance will consist of two sets with a 20-minute intermission, during which complimentary refreshments will be served — provided by local Evanston restaurateurs Clarence and Wendy Weaver, owners of C&W Market and Ice Cream Parlor.
