In today's digital world, boys and young men are constantly influenced by social media, peer culture, and online messages about relationships, masculinity, and respect. Unfortunately, many of these messages can contribute to unhealthy behaviors and conflict.
This engaging community workshop led by Kenneth “Kenny” Ollins, Founder of <a href="https://www.bornshow.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">BORN LLC</a> and a retired Juvenile Probation Officer with more than 30 years of experience working with youth in Chicago, explores how parents, educators, and community members can guide boys toward healthier attitudes about digital behavior.
Participants will learn how social media can escalate relationship conflicts and how adults can engage boys in meaningful conversations about respect, boundaries, and leadership.

Have you been to one of the “Donovan’s Garage” jazz events yet this spring? They have become a highlight for jazz enthusiasts in Evanston and the next one is coming up soon.
Donovan Mixon, the Evanston-based jazz guitarist who brings us the “Donovan’s Garage” shows, will stage “The Art of Persistence,” a jazz quintet performing on Tuesday, May 19 at Evanston’s AKAR Auditorium, 2715 Hurd Ave. in Evanston. The show begins at 7pm.
The May event will honor the work and spirit of AACM, the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, marking the 61st anniversary of the influential Chicago organization of Black musicians.
Performing on Tuesday, May 19 will be

All “Donovan’s Garage” shows are free, part of Donovan’s initiative to bring Chicago jazz to Evanston, work that earned him the Mayor’s Award for the Arts in 2025. Over the past three years he has brought more than 80 of Chicago’s finest jazz artists to Evanston. (Donations are gratefully accepted.)

Created in 1972 at Chicago Pizza &amp; Oven Grinder, located just across the street from the location of the infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, this ooey-gooey masterpiece just might deliver the most legendary cheese pull in all of Chi-town!
This ingenious creation starts with scratchmade triple-raised Sicilian bread dough.
