About Maxwell Street Klezmer Band:&nbsp;
Founded in 1983 by Lori Lippitz, Maxwell Street Klezmer Band has played at Carnegie Hall, toured Europe, and provided the soundtrack for Chicagoland’s Jewish celebrations for over 4 decades. The band marked its 40th “Bandiversary” at The Old Town School of Folk Music in 2023. The group is releasing a new live album as well as an educational band book series in 2026.&nbsp;

Created in 1972 at Chicago Pizza &amp; Oven Grinder, located just across the street from the location of the infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, this ooey-gooey masterpiece just might deliver the most legendary cheese pull in all of Chi-town!
This ingenious creation starts with scratchmade triple-raised Sicilian bread dough. It’s filled with rich homemade tomato sauce that’s slow-simmered with olive oil, fresh garlic, onions, green peppers, and whole plum tomatoes. And finally, cheese – and lots of it! The Evanston Art Center (EAC) is excited to welcome the public to our upcoming exhibition, <a href="https://www.evanstonartcenter.org/exhibitions/excerpts-imagination-louis-de-guzman" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Excerpts of Imagination | Louis De Guzman</a>. The exhibition will be on display from May 23–June 21, 2026 with an opening reception on Sunday, May 31, 1–4pm that will be free and open to the public.

Louis De Guzman is a Filipino-American award-winning multidisciplinary artist who uses both traditional and experimental techniques in his work. His signature geometric, abstract style blends together images and stories representing his family's immigrant journey, as well as his own experience as a second-generation Filipino American.

Excerpts of Imagination | Louis De Guzman will be exhibited in the Second Floor Gallery of the Art Center. The opening reception is free and open to the public. This exhibition is partially funded by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the EAC’s general membership.

Evanston Art Center, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, is dedicated to fostering the appreciation and expression of the arts among diverse audiences. The Art Center offers extensive and innovative instruction in broad areas of artistic endeavor through classes, exhibitions, interactive arts activities, and community outreach initiatives.
