Looking for a free summer activity for elementary-aged kids?
First Presbyterian Church of Evanston is hosting Rainforest Falls Vacation Bible School (VBS), a weeklong morning program for kids entering Kindergarten through 5th grade.
It runs Monday–Friday, July 27–31, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 1427 Chicago Avenue, and it’s completely free.
Each day includes a mix of games, music, crafts, and interactive lessons, all built around a fun rainforest theme. It’s designed to be a welcoming, structured environment where kids can have fun, meet other kids, and enjoy something a little different during the summer.
All families are welcome—no church background or membership needed.
Advance registration is required.

The nationally and locally acclaimed Pequod's Pizza is coming to you on Friday, July 3rd--and this time, we're delivering to your home! Note that pizzas will be PAR BAKED with Pequod’s world-famous caramelized crust. We also have thin crust pies, garlic bread, and cheesy garlic bread on the menu this time around for delivery, so indulge! Pequod's was just named the "Best Pizza in the US" by Yelp!
Order by 12pm on Tuesday at the latest! But don't wait until the last minute to place your order, because there are only 50 spots available.

The Palatine Concert Band is set to perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at 
Arrington Lakefront Lagoon at Dawes Park, located at Sheridan Road and 
Church Street. The lakefront fireworks show is scheduled will to
 begin around 9:30 p.m. and will be visible from most lakefront parks, 
according to organizers.

Presence and Absence: The Space Between&nbsp;explores the dual reality of death—the physical disappearance of those we love and the enduring emotional, spiritual, and cultural traces they leave behind. Through sculpture, painting, performance, and participatory installations, the exhibition brings together fragile and enduring materials to reflect on memory, loss, and the tension between impermanence and our human desire to hold on. Rather than viewing death as an ending, the exhibition considers it as a connective force between past, present, and future, inviting visitors to reflect on legacy, remembrance, and the ways we remain present even in our absence
Indira Freitas Johnson is a sculptor, cultural worker, peace activist, and educator whose work explores the intersection of art, community, and social change. Born in Mumbai, India, Johnson received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in collections such as the Library of Congress, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including the Illinois Governor’s Award for the Arts, and in 2013 was named Chicagoan of the Year.Exhibition on view July 6 - August 2, 2026 <h3></h3>
