Rembrandt Chamber Musicians Presents: Holiday Baroque, Gifts of the Season
Celebrate the season with a festive program of Baroque masterworks featuring internationally acclaimed soprano Josefien Stoppelenburg and an ensemble of Rembrandt Chamber Musician all-stars. From the intimate beauty of Purcell’s If Music Be the Food of Love to the brilliance of Bach’s beloved concertos, this program showcases the expressive richness, elegance, and vitality of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music. Oboist Scott Hostetler joins the ensemble for Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe, while Stephen Alltop provides continuo accompaniment on harpsichord and organ.
The second half of the program continues with Bach’s moving Sinfonia from Cantata No. 156, Telemann’s charming Trio Sonata in E-flat Major, and Handel’s dazzling aria Das zitternde Glänzen featuring Josefien Stoppelenburg. The concert concludes with one of the most beloved works of the Baroque era, Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor. Featuring a distinguished roster of artists including Gina DiBello, Eleanor Bartsch, Michael Gurevich, Carol Cook, Calum Cook, Andrew Sommer, Scott Hostettler, Stephen Alltop, and Josefien Stoppelenburg, this holiday celebration offers an inspiring afternoon of musical warmth and virtuosity.
