Evanston Police Blotter: July 10 - July 17

EVANSTON, IL — The following information comes from the Evanston Police Department as a record of those arrested by police and incidents reported to police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

  • Someone damaged a latch on a wall in the 1400 block of Elmwood Avenue between 5:30 and 7 p.m. on July 9.
  • Someone forced open a door and stole a computer from an apartment in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue between 1 p.m. on July 9 and 12:30 a.m. on July 10.
  • Someone got into an apartment in the 700 block of Mulford Street through an open window between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on July 11 and stole jewelry.
  • Someone stole a laptop computer from a home in the 900 block of Madison Street between 10:15 and 11:30 a.m. on July 12 after getting in through an open window.
  • Someone stole a bicycle and various other items from a garage in the 700 block of South Boulevard between the morning of July 12 and 14.
  • Someone stole a bicycle and power tools from an unlocked garage in the 2500 block of Grant Street between 10 p.m. on July 12 and 5 p.m. on July 14.
  • Someone stole a bicycle from a garage with an open door in the 2800 block of Harrison Street between 5 p.m. on July 14 and 11 a.m. on July 15.

ATTEMPTED CAR THEFT
Someone damaged the steering wheel column of a Ford parked at a business in the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue between 4 p.m. on July 13 and 7:30 a.m. on July 16.

CAR FIRE
Around 3:30 a.m. on July 17, someone set 2009 Chevy on fire in an alley near the 1800 block of Lemar Avenue.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Mahdi Al Caesar Salah, 21, of the 8200 block of Keating Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. on July 10 in the 3800 block of Oakton Street and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Jeffrey A. Craig, 26, of the 1800 block of Lyons Street in Evanston, was arrested at 12:03 a.m. on July 11 in the 1900 block of Emerson Street.

Brandon A. Anderson, 26, of the 8300 block of South Carpenter Street in Chicago, was arrested at 12:39 a.m. on July 13 in the 900 block of Davis Street and charged with disorderly conduct.

Destinae Dubois, 20, of the 1300 block of Fowler Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at her home at 2:20 a.m. on July 13 and charged with domestic battery.

Ninos A. Esho, 31, of the 0-100 block of Fremont Court in Des Plaines, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. on July 14 in the 2400 block of Main Street and charged with retail theft.

Paul A. Floyd, 52, of the 2300 block of Dempster Street was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. on July 14 at his home and charged with domestic battery.

Miguel C. Gardener, 28, of the 100 block of Custer Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at his home at 10:07 p.m. on July 14 and charged with domestic battery.

Nicolas Moreno, 20, and Malik Jackson, 18, were both arrested around 11:30 p.m. on July 13 in the 2000 block of Dodge Avenue, where they both live. They reportedly face various charges after Moreno fled police with a gun and Jackson jumped on police as they fought over the weapon. Read more...

Elvis A. Jones, 45, of the 400 block of Custer Street in Evanston, was arrested at 10:27 p.m. on July 14 near the intersection of Dodge Avenue and Oakton Street and charged with driving under the influence.

Latisha Taylor, 21, of the 9600 block of South Calumet in Chicago, turned herself around 3 p.m. on July 13 to face charged of continuing financial crimes enterprise after reportedly depositing $15,000 worth of face checks into an Evanston bank and withdrawing more than $9,000 in cash.

Mircea Voicu, 25, of the 1500 block of Central Street in Evanston, was arrested at 5:37 a.m. on July 15 in the 1800 block of Asbury Avenue and charged with driving under the influence.

Kolade A. Aboyade, 28, of the 1000 block of Crain Street in Evanston, was arrested at 1:37 a.m. on July 15 in the 600 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving under the influence.

Gary F. Hylton, 53, of the 2100 block of Dobson Street in Evanston, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. on July 16 in the 100 block of Grey Avenue and charged with criminal damage to property.

Ignacio Lopez-Gonzales, 54, of the 2000 block of Grey Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 2:17 a.m. on July 16 in the 1800 block of Asbury Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
