Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre to Perform at Studio5 Oct. 5-6

Studio5 is pleased to announce that Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre is returning to Studio5 following a sold-out performance last fall to present their latest work, My Past/ Our Present, Oct. 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door, or $25 in advance and $30 at the door for students and seniors.

My Past / Our Present features an ensemble of ten dancers and nine musicians, all live on stage. The piece explores concepts of identity — who we are and how we got here. The work also looks at themes surrounding immigration, including the trauma and shock of dislocation, as well as diversity, the impact of people and the environment around us, and the modern African American experience.

The evening will feature world premiere pieces with choreography by Monique Haley, Joshua Ishmon and Wilfredo Rivera, and music by Clarice Assad, Joe Cerqua and Pharez Whitted. We are excited to welcome CRDT back to Studio5 and hope you can join us for an incredible feast for the eyes and ears.
