Cheers! Catholic Charities hosts 15th Annual d'Vine Affair
Chicago's Premier Wine and Craft & Imported Beer Tasting Event benefiting Catholic Charities Self-Sufficiency Programs
CHICAGO, IL – On Sunday, January 31st, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m., Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago hosts the 15th Annual d’Vine Affair, a premier wine and imported & craft beer tasting event held at the Union League Club of Chicago! Benefiting Catholic Charities self-sufficiency programs, guests can sample wine and beer from around the world.
Expecting more than 500 attendees, the annual event is hosted by Monsignor Michael M. Boland, President of Catholic Charities, along with event founders and chair-couples Joseph and Helen Glunz of Louis Glunz Wines, Inc. and John and Teddi Scholz, as well as co-chair couples John Cohn and Erin Reardon Cohn and Joseph and Jean Imperato.
“Our family self-sufficiency programs, assist low-income, single parents break the cycle of welfare and poverty. We provide education, training, employment assistant and case management for up to five years so these families can become fully self-sufficient,” said Monsignor Boland. “The d’Vine Affair directly benefits these vital programs.”

Catholic Charities self-sufficiency program client Lumba, a single parent in Lake County, says that she is “very thankful for the help this program has extended. When I was homeless, they picked me up and gave me a helping hand.”
Boasting 250 different wines from around the world and several craft and imported beers, guests will be able to sample wines from more than 90 vintners, and beer from at least 7 breweries many of which will be poured by the vintners and brewers themselves, along with gourmet hors d’oeuvres and desserts.

The afternoon event will feature educational seminars, tastings a silent auction and a prize raffle followed by an optional three-course dinner. The silent auction will showcase an amazing array of wine and other items, plus a raffle drawing will give guests a chance to stock up their own wine cellar! All proceeds from the event will go towards benefitting the self-sufficiency programs. Last year’s event raised more than $126,000 for Catholic Charities Self-Sufficiency Programs.
