Chiaravalle Montessori + Steve & Kate's Camp = Innovation Year-Round

hiaravalle Montessori is bringing the award-winning Steve & Kate's Camp, to Evanston.

EVANSTON, IL (October 19, 2015) - Chiaravalle Montessori is bringing the award-winning Steve & Kate’s Camp, to Evanston. Known for its guiding philosophy of letting kids decide their own activities, Steve & Kate’s has quickly become a popular option for families in Chicago. North Shore parents are thrilled with the opportunity this brings for their children.

The camp offers six creative daily studios which include animation, coding, music, style, dance, and bread making. Each week there is a new thrill such as a hurricane water slide, go-kart racing, rock climbing, obstacle courses, inflatable hamster wheels or water balloon launchers. Campers explore and venture into one or more of them and find copious supplies and high-tech professional equipment to give campers the ability to express themselves freely in a world liberated from adult judgment.

“It’s not our job to dictate what the story should be,” Steve Susskind says. “It’s our job to help them tell their stories.”

“Chiaravalle fosters a modern Montessori environment that allows children to be self-directed and develop the entrepreneurial mindset skills,” said Robyn McCloud-Springer, head of School at Chiaravalle Montessori. “It’s a natural fit for us to host a program like Steve & Kate’s Camp that also fosters 21st century learning and is disrupting the summer camp space.”

Aside from the choose-your-own-adventure philosophy, Steve & Kate’s Camp is equally flexible for parents, liberating them from the frustration of weekly sessions and packing lunches. The camp offers a summer membership or day passes to buy and use anytime. Any unused paid passes are automatically refunded in full at summer’s end. A pass covers all hours (7:30am-6pm), materials, equipment use, snacks and lunch. Life just got easier for families on the North Shore.
