City Adds 'Trending Topics and Facts' Section To Website

Clarity on current issues will be provided through webpage updated regularly.

The city of Evanston has unveiled a new useful webpage entitled “Trending Topics and Facts.”

According to City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz, the page is designed to “help provide additional information on projects, issues, initiatives and other municipal happenings in Evanston that might get brought up at public comment at City Council meetings and/or become discussed in the community.”

“Sometimes an issue, and the facts surrounding it, get a little jumbled,” Bobkiewicz wrote in an email to members of the media on Tuesday. “That could be because the issue is controversial or sometimes the issue is discussed for such a long time that certain elements of it are forgotten or overlooked along the way. Sometimes a misstatement or an incorrect newspaper headline becomes the ‘truth’ and the facts get lost in the shuffle.”

The added information found on the webpage should help add relevancy to community discussion.

“Democracy depends on dialogue and trust between all parties,” Bobkiewicz said. “I hope that this additional information enhances both in our community.”
