City Considers Tougher Drug Testing Policy
City workers could be tested automatically following every accident, injury rather than by "suspicion."

The city of Evanston may decide soon to stiffen its drug testing policy.
City staff told aldermen on the Human Services Committee this week revisions to require tests for city workers after any accident or injury may be implemented, according to Evanston Now.
Currently, tests are only given based on “reasonable suspicion” by supervisors of drug or alcohol use. The new policy would allow for more consistency, according to Human Relations Division Manager Jennifer Lin, who noted than city workers were involved in 100 accidents in 2014 and nearly 50 so far this year.
