City Raises Parking Fines
Penalties for several parking violations in Evanston will rise by $5 beginning in October.

A week after raising fees for ambulance services in the city, aldermen in Evanston voted to raise parking fees.
Set to go in effect on October 1, parking violation penalty fines will increase from $25 to $30, according to the Evanston Review. That fine applies to violations such as parking without a permit in certain city lots, in school zones and in spots reserved for police or other city vehicles among others.
The penalty for parking within an intersection or crosswalk or in a parkway or sidewalk will rise from $30 to $35.

Snow route parking violations will now be $60, up from the current $55. Penalties for vehicles towed and relocated during a snow emergency will rise from $150 to $155.
