City, Schools Terminate Contracts to Air Meetings on ECTV
Non-profit "no longer has the technical expertise," city manager says.

Public meetings in Evanston will be shown through a different outlet beginning next year as the city and School District 65 terminated contracts with the Evanston Community Media Center, a non-profit that had annual contracts in place for $51,600 from the city and $35,000 from the schools.
City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz told Evanston Now the decision on the city’s end came after a series of City Council meetings could not be carried live. It became apparent, he said, that ECTV “no longer has the technical expertise it one did to, under the contract, keep all operations running.”
Bobkiewicz says he still sees value in having public access television available in Evanston and wants “to make sure that continues in some form or fashion.” He is scheduled to discuss the future of the access channels with aldermen on the Human Services Committee at a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5.
