Clinton and Trump Cookies a Hit at Bakery in Evanston
Bennison's Bakery sells cookies designed with caricatures of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

EVANSTON, IL - Just in case you are still undecided as to supporting Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for President of the United States, a popular Evanston bakery is offering a taste of both.
Bennison’s Bakery, at 1000 Davis St. in Evanston, has been baking cookies designed with the faces of the two major presidential candidates since August.
“It’s been a lot of fun...and has been causing a little stir,” said Jory Downer, owner of the bakery that’s been in Evanston since 1938. “We did something like this four years ago and decided it would be smart to do again.”

The cookies, which are $2.50 each, feature a caricature of either Clinton or Trump with red, white and blue sprinkles along the sides. They are between three-and-a-half and four inches in diameter.
“People have asked if we could make cookies with Gary Johnson on them, and I tell them we do not have a suitable image of him or else we would do it,” Downer said.

The idea has paid off in a big way. The Clinton and Trump cookies are flying off the shelves. Landing a spot on CBS News in Chicago and a mention on a national platform hasn’t hurt sales either, Downer said.
“I’m quite surprised other Chicago-area bakers haven’t tried the same thing,” he said.
So far, Downer says sales have been “about 3-2” in favor of Clinton.
“And it’s been at that rate pretty consistently since August,” he said.
The cookies will be available through Election Day.
