EVANSTON, IL - Police in Evanston found a loaded handgun in an alley over the weekend. An anonymous tip to the Evanston Police Department led police to an alley near Foster Street and Brown Avenue around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 30. Upon checking the area, the found a loaded Hopkins and Allen .32 caliber revolver in the alley near the 2000 block of Foster Street. No charges have been made as an investigation continues.

Founded in 1983 by Lori Lippitz, Maxwell Street Klezmer Band has played at Carnegie Hall, toured Europe, and provided the soundtrack for Chicagoland’s Jewish celebrations for over 4 decades. The band marked its 40th “Bandiversary” at The Old Town School of Folk Music in 2023. The group is releasing a new live album as well as an educational band book series in 2026.&nbsp;
