COVID-19 Tests In Evanston Area: Where To Find Locations

Here's where to find COVID-19 testing sites in the north suburbs amid surging cases in the omicron wave.

EVANSTON, IL — With holiday gatherings and the emerging omicron surge of coronavirus combining to send demand for tests skyrocketing past supplies, an increasing number of North Shore residents have been seeking COVID-19 testing but have found it unavailable or difficult to obtain.

COVID-19 test positivity in suburban Cook County rose to 7.8 percent, as of Monday, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. There were nearly 240,000 tests performed in suburban county during the week ending Dec. 18, the most recent data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

In Evanston, there were more than 7,100 coronavirus tests performed for the week ending Dec. 23, the most recent data available from the Evanston Health and Human Services Department.

The seven-day rolling average COVID-19 positivity rate is 6.64 percent, and there were 839 new confirmed cases in the city for the week, a 170 percent increase from the previous week's total of 311, city officials said.

According to city staff, nearly 84 percent of Evanston residents aged 5 or over are fully vaccinated.

Since the start of the pandemic, 116 Evanston residents have died of COVID-19, including four in November and three so far this month, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
