Crack Sealing Will Begin On Some Streets Monday

"No parking" signs will be posted 48 hours before work begins.

Submitted by the City of Evanston

During the week of July 27, the City of Evanston will conduct crack sealing on select streets. The project is expected to be completed in two to three days. Please see below for a map of the affected locations.

Over time, water freezing and thawing during the winter months can cause potholes to form along cracks in the street. The City’s crack sealing process will include routing of cracks in the pavement and pumping in rubberized asphalt to prevent moisture from entering. Routing of the cracks will create some debris, which will be swept up the following day, as the material requires 24 hours to set. An air compressor will be used to blow out the cracks, which can create dust; area residents are asked to keep their windows closed during the process.
