CTA Purple Line Service Resumes After Man Jumps In Front Of Train
The fatal incident shut down trains in both directions around 7:30 a.m. Friday near the Bryn Mawr Red Line station.

CHICAGO, IL — A person was struck and killed by a CTA train near the Bryn Mawr stop stop shortly after 7 a.m. Friday morning. Power was cut in both directions for roughly an hour as service on the Red Line and Purple Line was interrupted, according to the CTA and fire department.
As of 8:30 a.m., Purple Line Express service remained suspended heading into the Loop. Local trains were still operating between Howard and Linden.
Northbound trains from Belmont to Howard started running again, bypassing the Bryn Mawr stop.

Firefighters said the body has been removed from the tracks and the train's operator was taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to WLS-TV. The incident remains under investigation.
UPDATE: Normal service on the Purple Line and Red Line resumed shortly after 9 a.m.

The man who jumped in front of the train at the Bryn Mawr station was identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as James Dillen, 52, of the West Ridge neighborhood.
Normal Purple Line Express service is operating with residual delays following an earlier medical emergency on the tracks near Bryn Mawr.
