Disparity in Number of African-American Workers in City of Evanston Departments
Parks and community services among those serving as the high number, with the Library employing the lowest percentage of African-Americans.

There’s quite a disparity in the number of African-American workers across city of Evanston departments.
Twenty-two percent of the city’s workers are black, which is slightly higher than the 18 percent of the city population which is black, according to an Evanston Now report on the city’s full-time employee numbers.
The departments with the highest concentration of black employees are parks, recreation and community services (42 percent), with the lowest being Utilities (5 percent) and the Evanston Public Library (3 percent).

For part-time positions, 71 percent of employees in Public Works and Administrative Services serve as the high, with 21 percent at the Library remaining the low.
