District 65 School Calendar For 2019-20: First Day, Holidays

EVANSTON, IL — The first day of classes at District 65 schools is Aug. 26 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you’ll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The Evanston/Skokie School District 65 has approved the full 2019-20 calendar, which is available online in a printable format.

The calendar includes important dates, such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here's a look at some of the most important dates parents and students should mark down immediately:

August

Aug. 13-21: New Teacher Orientation
Aug. 22-23: No School — Institute Days
Aug. 26: First Day of School — All Students

September

Sept. 2: No School — Labor Day
Sept. 30: No School — Rosh Hashanah

October

Oct. 2: Early Dismissal — School Improvement Day
Oct. 9: No School — Yom Kippur
Oct. 21-25: Parent-Teacher Conferences
Oct. 25: No School — Institute Day

November

Nov. 6: Early Dismissal — School Improvement Day
Nov. 11: No School — Veterans Day
Nov. 15: First Trimester Ends
Nov. 27-29: No School — Thanksgiving Break

Dec. 11: Early Dismissal — School Improvement Day
Dec. 23-31: No School —Winter Break

Note: "School Improvement Days" include early dismissal for students and a full day for teachers. Students at magnet schools are released at 11 a.m., students at middle schools are released at 11:30 a.m., Park School lets out at noon and elementary school students are dismissed at 12:05 p.m.
