District 65 Students Show, Sing Support for Adopted 5-Year Plan
Several students applaud board's decision to adopt an amended plan for five years.

A five-year plan passed by the Evanston/Skokie School District 65 board of education Monday was met enthusiastically by some students in the district.
After recommendations for a three-year plan morphed into a five-year plan approved by the board, 10 or so youngsters came from the audience and expressed their delight, Evanston Now reports.
“Thanks to my teachers, principals, parents, classmates, and members of our community for sharing their voices and coming together to develop a plan that will continue to improve our schools, making them an even better place for us to learn,” one said.

The theme of the amended plan, “Every child, every day, whatever it takes” was celebrated at the meeting with the singing of “Whatever It Takes,” a composition written by Matthew Hunter, head of the music department at Martin Luther King Jr. Literary & Fine Arts School and Chute Middle School.
