Driver Injured When Car Runs Into Evanston Home

The 31-year-old was said to have suffered some sort of medical event causing the crash.

A 31-year-old Evanston man suffered injuries determined to be non life threatening after a car he was driving ran into a house on the southeast corner of Emerson Street and Laurel Avenue in Evanston around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Evanston Now reports firefighters were quickly able to extricate the driver, who was taken to Evanston Hospital by a Fire Department ambulance. Police said some sort of medical event caused him to lose control of the car.

Fire crews on the scene called for a structural engineer to determine the extent of damage to the home. The car struck the lower level of the home and ended up about halfway into the building. The car was towed away at 10:30 p.m.
