Driver With Stolen Gun Nabbed by Evanston Police: Cops
Police say the 24-year-old man hid the gun in his car before he was pulled over in Evanston on Wednesday.

EVANSTON, IL - Police recovered a loaded Stoeger 9mm handgun from a stop in Evanston this week and arrested the driver, a 24-year-old local man.
The stop was made around 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the 2300 block of Emerson Street, according to a police report. The report states the driver - Tyrone E. Gibbs of the 2100 block of Emerson - was seen by tactical unit detectives banding forward and reaching down toward the floor of the vehicle.
"As the detectives were speaking with Gibbs, he continued to look back down towards the floorboard of the vehicle," according to the report. " After Gibbs exited the vehicle, a loaded Stoeger 9mm handgun was recovered from under the front drivers seat."

Police checked the handgun and found it to have been reported stolen from Waukegan.
Gibbs was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, no valid FOID card and two traffic citations.
