Duo Robs Evanston Bank: FBI

Two men wearing stocking caps robbed the Fifth Third Bank branch on Main Street Tuesday.

EVANSTON, IL — The FBI is looking for two men who robbed a bank in Evanston Tuesday evening. Shortly before 5:20 p.m., the duo walked into the Fifth Third Bank branch at 2440 Main St., near the border with Skokie, according to the FBI. Neither man brandished a weapon, and only the teller was aware of the robbery at the time.

Both men are pictured entering the bank together. In surveillance images released by the FBI, one man can be seen with his hand in his jacket after approaching the teller.

He is wearing glasses a black and grey knitted hat and a black jacket and was described as 5 foot, 7 inches to 5-foot, 8 inches tall with a medium build. He appeared to be between the ages of 45 and 50, according to the FBI.

The other man was pictured standing with his hands in his pockets near the bank's entrance. He was described as about 6 feet tall and between 40 to 50 years old. He wore a tan knit hat, a black jacket and dark pants.

No direction of travel or vehicle description was provided by the FBI.


The FBI is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the men, who it said should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the FBI's Chicago office at 312-421-6700.
