Elmwood Avenue Will Close for Months for Construction of 12-Story Building

Work on Centrum development will cause street to close through end of 2016.

EVANSTON, IL - Elmwood Avenue south of Davis Street in Evanston will be closed beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 17 and could be off limits for the rest of the year.

The city announced the closure this week as work begins on a 12-story building at 1571 Maple Ave., a Centrum Partners development called Centrum Evanston.

The street closure will be in effect while Novak Construction works on erecting the structural steel and concrete for the building, according to the city. It will be closed from Davis all the way to the south end of the construction site.
