Ethnic Sweet Shop Planned for Evanston

All hurdles in allowing an ethnic sweet shop to operate at 900 Chicago Ave. in Evanston could be cleared by Monday if the City Council approves a building permit for Ad Val’s Sweet.

The store, with a main branch in Chicago called Ajwaah Sweets, sells “ethnic sweets, coffee and sandwiches,” according to the Daily Northwestern.

Owners have compared the location to “a European cake house,” aiming to serve people on their way to work since the Main Street Metra and CTA train stops are nearby.
