ETHS Baseball Pitcher Throws Perfect Game

15 up, 15 down for Matt Anderson in his second start as a Wildkit on Saturday.

EVANSTON, IL - Evanston Township High School baseball pitcher Matt Anderson tossed a five-inning perfect game on Saturday as the Wildkits lit up Maine East, 13-0.

In only the second start of his varsity career, Anderson set down all 15 batters he faced, striking out six of them. He only went to a three-ball count twice during the Central Suburban League crossover victory in Park Ridge, according to ETHS Sports Information.

The game was called after five innings due to rain.

“I’ve never even come close to a no-hitter before," Anderson said. "But we were scoring a lot of runs in the 4th inning and the rain was coming down, so I knew I had a chance to do it."

“I was really feeling my fastball and I was hitting my spots well. I found the edges (of the plate) with my fastball and even when I did miss, it was out of the zone.”
