ETHS Hall of Fame Adds 4 Athletes, 2 Teams, 2 Coaches

Eight new inductees were addd to the school's Hall-of-Fame last month.

EVANSTON, IL - Four former Evanston Township High School Wildkit athletes joined two coaches and two teams as part of the 2016 ETHS Hall of Fame class last month, according to ETHS Sports Information.

Demeca Hill, Track and Field, class of 2006.
Hill is regarded as the most successful relay runner in the history of the school’s track and field program, a successful program on its own. Hill was a part of seven state relay championships and had five individual medal-winning performances at the state level. Her team won the state title in every year she was a Wildkit.

Traciann Henry, Track and Field, class of 2004.
Henry won 14 state medals and was part of a 2003 800 relay team that set a state record time of 1 minute, 37.97 seconds.

Dave Pemberton, Swimming, class of 1954.
Pemberton excelled in the backstroke, an event he won titles for at the IHSA and NCAA levels.

Bob Sheppard, Wrestling, class of 1959.
Sheppard was one of only two three-time state qualifiers in school history and earned top 4 state finishers in three different weight classes and a state championship in 1959.

Bob Trevarthen, Track and Field coach.
Trevarthen turned ETHS in a “track school” in only five years as the program’s head coach. He led the Wildkits to a top-three IHSA finish in all five years, winning the state title in 1965 and 1966.

John T. Riddell, Football Coach/Athletic Director.
Riddell led a successful ETHS football team from 1913 to 1927, winning state championships based on votes in 1916 and 1926.

1934 Football Team.
The Wildkits won all eight of their games during the 1934 campaign, which included a 5-0 mark against Suburban League competition. They only allowed two touchdowns all season en route to a “mythical” state championship.

1963 Football Team.
The Wildkits won another mythical championship 29 years later with dominating victories against Niles East (42-0), Waukegan (10-0), New Trier (33-7) and Morton East (27-6).
