Carlos Taylor is the first black student from Evanston to compete in nationwide Lincoln-Douglas debate tournament.

Evanston Township High School senior Carlos Taylor is the first black student from Evanston to qualify for the Tournament of Champions, a prestigious national debate tournament. Evanston Round-Table is reporting that Taylor is a top contender in the category of Lincoln-Douglas debate.

“Debate is as much about politics and social standings as it is about research and actually debating,” Taylor said.
