There will be a congregational evensong with cantor (no choir) followed by a one hour program celebrating the birthday of organbuilder Ernest M. Skinner (b. January 15, 1866). Join us for organ music, birthday cake, and surprises. All are welcome.
Tim O'Brien, St. Luke's junior warden, will portray Ernest Skinner, reading from his letters. Guest organist John Bryant and Christine Kraemer, St. Luke's organist, will play music by some of Skinner's favorite composers: Richard Wagner, Louis Vierne, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, Leo Sowerby, and J.S. Bach. Join us for organ music, birthday cake, and surprises. All are welcome.
This is the first in a series of events to take place at St. Luke's in 2012 to celebrate the 90th year of St. Luke's Skinner organ, Opus 327, installed in 1922.
