The concert features great pieces from the Viennese symphonic repertoire: Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major and Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D Major.
Conducted by Music Director Lawrence Eckerling, the orchestra will feature pianist Matthew Hagle in the Beethoven Concerto.
The Magic Flute, produced in 1791 in the twilight of the composer’s short life, is one of his most popular and frequently produced operas. The Beethoven Fourth Piano Concerto was first performed in Vienna in 1808 and the Brahms Second Symphony had its premiere in Vienna in 1877.
The piano soloist is a Chicagoan who has performed at Ravinia and Symphony Center, as well as on international stages in England, Japan and Australia.
