Evanston Alderman Plans to Run for Mayor
Brian Miller was appointed to the 9th Ward post by Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl. Now, he hopes to succeed her in office.
EVANSTON, IL - Evanston 9th Ward Ald. Brian Miller will run for Mayor of the city in 2017.
Miller made the announcement Friday via email, according to the Daily Northwestern.
Miller, an Evanston native, has been on the City Council for one year after Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl appointed him to the position left vacant when longtime Ald. Coleen Burrus left the city for a position with Princeton University.

Tisdahl announced earlier this year she will not seek a third term as Mayor when the election cycle returns in 2017. Miller is the first to have declared his intentions on seeking the post.
