Evanston Aldermen Could Get Raises
Four-member committee to make recommendation to City Council next week.

EVANSTON, IL - A four-person committee will recommend to the Evanston City Council next week whether or not to award pay raises to the new Council that will be elected in 2017.
Members of the Compensation Committee are Northwestern University Biology Teacher Alvin Telser, Housing & Homelessness Commission Chair Sue Calder, Todd Kihm, a building contractor, and Robin Simmons on Sunshine Enterprises, according to Evanston Now.
Evanston’s nine aldermen are currently making a yearly base pay of $12,784, but with benefits like health insurance also offered each representative costs taxpayers an average of nearly $25,000 per year.

The committee is likely to make a recommendation at the next City Council meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday.
