Evanston Community Foundation Presents Feb. 4 Workshop "Compelling Stories, Compelling Causes: Nonprofit Marketing Success"
"Internal Change/External Impact" Series Continues Feb. 4 at the Rotary Building

EVANSTON, Ill.,— The Evanston Community Foundation continues its 2015/2016 workshop series for nonprofit organizations, providing practical tools to assist nonprofit organizations build capacity and strengthen programs. This year’s low cost workshops focus on the theme, “Internal Change / External Impact.” In addition to providing essential skills, the workshops are powerful networking opportunities for local nonprofit professionals and board members.

“Compelling Stories, Compelling Causes: Nonprofit Marketing Success,” will take place Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Susan O’Halloran, author of Compelling Causes, Compelling Stories, will illustrate the use of stories as a tool to boost fundraising efforts and media coverage and discuss how to identify your organization’s most memorable stories.

“Inclusion: Becoming an Equitable Institution” will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eileen Hogan Heineman and Donique McIntosh, YWCA Evanston/North Shore Racial Justice Program Co-Directors, will lead an interactive session focusing on the intersection of identity and leadership and how to normalize equity and inclusion across an organization.

Registration fee is $40 for each workshop, with a special rate of $100 for three registrations; a light supper is included. Workshops are held in Evanston at One Rotary Center, 1560 Sherman Avenue, Room 1A.
ECF Program Officer Rebecca Cacayuran said “The Foundation has found that investing in the infrastructure of an organization can have a significant impact on its ability to serve the community. We not only award grants for capacity-building projects, but also offer low-cost workshops for nonprofit staff and board members to learn from experts in the field, and from one another.”

Presenter Bios:
Susan O’Halloran has been the story consultant to Fortune 500, as well as nonprofit, organizations for the last 30 years. Her 6S Story Power System found in her book, Compelling Causes, Compelling Stories, has been used by hundreds of organizations to raise their profile in the community, attract quality volunteers, capture the attention of the press, and show funders how their contributions make a positive and significant difference.
Eileen Hogan Heineman has been facilitating racial equity workshops and trainings for fifteen years, the past five for the YWCA Evanston/North Shore. She believes that individuals become change agents only after developing a radical empathy for all in the communities they serve and with whom they work. Dr. Donique McIntosh is an educator who has spent more than a decade working to create a more equitable and inclusive world within higher education, faith communities, and organizations.
