Evanston Crime: Health Food Store Burglary, 2 Men Charged
Evanston Police Arrest Two Over Commercial Burglary

EVANSTON, IL — Two men have been arrested after fleeing the scene of an early Thursday morning burglary at the JD Mills Food Company on the 600 block of Chicago Avenue, police said.
Evanston police received a call around 5:18 a.m. that two men had broken out a glass door at the health food store and gone inside before leaving in an SUV and heading south. Police tried to stop a vehicle matching the description and carrying two men as it left the scene near Sheridan Road and Jarvis Avenue.
Police eventually stopped the car in the 1300 block of Estes Avenue in Chicago and the two men fled on foot and were taken into custody after a brief pursuit, according to Evanston Police.

Both men, 29-year-old Nicholas Economos, of Chicago, and 21-year-old Alejandro Elvira, of Des Plaines, were charged with one count of felony burglary, police said.
According to police, nothing was stolen, but the register inside was damaged and it appeared the burglars had tried and failed to break it open.
