The Evanston Dance Ensemble (EDE) opens its 2015-2016 season on December 11-13 with The Young Choreographers Project, featuring choreography from eleven EDE company members and one piece from EDE alum and recent Juilliard graduate, Eve Jacobs. The original choreography is set on fellow EDE members with each choreographer being mentored by a dance professional. The ensemble is thrilled to be presenting The Young Choreographers Project as the inaugural production in Dance Center Evanston’s (DCE) brand new dance theater, Studio5, which is located at DCE (1934 Dempster Street, Evanston). Studio5 has been designed to serve as both a 100-seat performance space for area dance companies and as additional dance studio space for DCE.
The second performance of the season is the return of one of EDE’s most beloved and crowd pleasing productions, Alice in Wonderland, on March 10-13, 2016 at Northwestern University’s Josephine Louis Theatre (20 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston). Under the artistic direction of Béa Rashid and Christina Ernst, Lewis Carroll’s classic tale is retold through innovative dance created by many of the top choreographic talents in the Chicago dance community.
Over the past 18 seasons, EDE has gained a reputation for creating innovative, exciting productions for audiences of all ages. The artistic directors have brought in top theatrical, musical, and choreographic talent to create professional caliber performances in a wide range of dance styles.
