Evanston Detectives Transport Tennessee Man Over Illegal Gun Charge
Nashville resident apprehended, returned to Evanston to face firearm charges.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston detectives traveled to Tennessee to take custody of a Nashville man who had been wanted for more than a year with an active warrant over an illegal gun, police announced Friday.
Christopher N. Heim, 21, of the 500 block of Longleaf Court in Nashville, was arrested April 14 for felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The charges arise from a traffic stop from last year. Police said they pulled over a car on Feb. 4, 2016 after seeing it make a left turn at Howard Street and Damen Avenue "without using its turn signal," police said in a prepared statement.

During the traffic stop, police allegedly saw Heim bend forward and hide a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun between the cushions of the seat in which he was sitting.
Police said Heim fled the scene on foot after the gun was found and managed to escape at the time. He had been on the lam ever since.
