In 2015, there were 5,994 EMS calls and 3,636 fire responses. The EMS calls for service were also the highest total in the 140-year history of the Evanston Fire Department.
The department responded to 99 fires which caused more than $2 million in property damage. 98 percent of the property value involved in the fires was saved, however.
“The men and women of the Evanston Fire Department take great pride in how quickly we respond to our community’s homes and businesses,” Fire Chief Greg Klaiber said. “Our average response times for 2015 were once again below the four-minute standard set by the National Fire Protection Association, for both fire and emergency medical calls.”
