Evanston Firefighters Local 742 Brings Thanksgiving to Local Families in Need
Thanksgiving dinners went out to 12 local families.
The Evanston Firefighters Local 742 continued a nine-year tradition Monday by assembling and delivering Thanksgiving dinner baskets to 12 Evanston families in need.
The baskets contained a 20-pound turkey, stuffing, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, biscuits, carrots, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, gravy, apple pie, and more. They were brought to Family Focus at the Fleetwood Jourdain Center, where they were distributed to pre-selected families who would not otherwise be able to afford a Thanksgiving dinner.
The program is funded through the Evanston Firefighters Local 742 and is one of many examples of the community outreach projects that Evanston firefighters will participate in this year. Other events include a toy drive and holiday party for children in need.
