Evanston High School Chess team wins local tournament

ETHS Chess team wins Sandburg Tournament on October 23, 2016

The ETHS Chess team took a win October 23 at its first major team event this season. ETHS students from all grade levels participated in the Sandburg Tournament. The Chess team defeated Lincolnway West (68-0), Waubonsi Valley (42-27), Andrew (48-20) and Nequa Valley 35-33 for the championship.

  • Board 1 Sophomore Liam O'Carroll (4-0); first place
  • Board 2 Senior Nate Tracy-AMoroso (1-3)
  • Board 3 Junior Oliver Brady (4-0); second place
  • Board 4 Senior Evan Franchere (1-3)
  • Board 5 Senior Riley WIlson (4-0); first place
  • Board 6 Freshman Alex Fogel (3-1)
  • Board 7 Sophomore Nick Marcotte (2-2)
  • Board 8 Freshman Jonah Doppelt (4-0); first place
