Evanston Hospital Faces Lawsuit
Family claims negligence caused son to be born with brain damage.
Evanston Hospital is being sued by a family who claims an obstetrical doctor team caused irreversible brain damage to their newborn through negligence.
The Cook County Record reports Aimee and David Florez, individually and on behalf of their minor son, filed suit on December 29 against Northshore University Health System (Evanston Hospital), Northshore Physicians Group LLC (Northshore Medical Group) and a team of three doctors and one registered nurse. The suit alleges on March 22, 2009 the defendants “failed to timely react to a non-reassuring fetal monitor strip, recognize her uterus was hyper-stimulated, discontinue the medication Pitocin and deliver their child in a timely manner.”
