Evanston Man Charged in Hawthorne Race Course Shooting
The 34-year-old man is one of two accused in a shooting that injured two women outside the south suburban racetrack on Sunday.
STICKNEY, IL - An Evanston man is one of two charged in connection with the shooting that took place outside the Hawthorne Race Course in the south suburbs last weekend.
Jermaine R. James, 34 was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon in connection with the shooting that wounded two women at the Belize Festival just outside of the racecourse around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to an ABC-7 report. Dennis D. Reneau, 38, of Ames, Iowa was also charged as police in Stickney determined two separate shootings took place outside the event.
Initial reports indicated several shots were fired outside the racecourse, sending spectators spilling out onto the course.

The two victims suffered non life-threatening injuries and are not believed to have been the intended targets, according to ABC.
A race was temporarily suspended due to the incident.
