Evanston Man Guilty in Sex Assault of a Child

An Evanston man faces six to 37 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child younger than 13 over the course of three years. Baraka A. Olla, 40, of the 1300 block of Washington Street in Evanston, was found guilty Wednesday of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office. Olla knew the victim and the abuse took place in the victim’s Elgin home between 2011 and 2014. A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 16 to begin sentencing proceedings.
